On Halloween Eve, Singaporean blogger and DJ Jade Rasif posted a series of Instagram stories describing how her family experienced “paranormal” occurrences in their sleep. At the age of 9, the celebrity’s younger sister was suffering from severe sleep paralysis. According to her, it was when she had spent the night in Jade’s bedroom, that she first encountered a “female presence” in the room.
The younger sister described the female figure as a “form” that floated outside the “black hole” in her sister’s room and occasionally spoke to her, whispering words in her ear. The frightened girl found online articles on sleep paralysis, from which she learned that descriptions of someone else’s presence are quite common in the reports of people who had experienced similar phenomena in a dream.
Jade herself began to see a woman outside her bedroom window at the age of 12, when she became interested in tarot and magic rituals. According to Jade, she was never afraid of the visions that she had in her dreams, but was absolutely sure that she had seen the woman in a waking state. The girls’ family sold the house and have since changed several apartments. Despite this, the blogger continues to see the woman outside the window in her dreams.
Although the mother of the family was convinced that the daughters had “opened the gates to the other world,” this story characteristically demonstrates the need to spread awareness of the phenomenon of phase states. For example, practitioners of lucid dreaming and out-of-body experiences often encounter similar occurrences, yet few among them will take their visions so seriously as to move houses.
