People can literally extract paintings, poetry, music, or formulas from lucid dreams (LDs), expanding the horizons of creative individuals from various fields. London artist Dave Green stands out by making this his signature style: he creates only LD works of art and sells them. Prices start at £150.
According to Proto.life, Green paints all his artwork twice: first in the LD, then in reality. This way, he depicts not what he saw in the dream but what he was drawing there. As the artist states, “There are two versions of each drawing – one created by dream me with a dream pen and a dream piece of paper, then another version which is a copy of that drawing. Unfortunately, the dream ones aren’t for sale, as they don’t exist in this dimension.”
He creates the paintings not in a trance or during a bout of sleepwalking but simply moves from his bed to a table in the morning. Despite the ability to go anywhere in an LD, Green prefers to be in his apartment since his main goal is creativity. And once the drawing is created, he sees no point in staying in the dream.
In addition to selling finished paintings, the artist creates commissioned portraits: he meets clients on Zoom, draws them in an LD, and then makes a physical copy. He also offers tattoos: he encounters a person in an LD, examines their existing tattoos, and creates a sketch for a new one, which can then be tattooed in reality.
Interestingly, Green combines LDs with another phase state – the out-of-body experience (OBE). His LDs often take the form of OBEs, where he becomes aware of himself in a realistic space – right where he fell asleep. As the artist adds, he is among those fortunate individuals who naturally experience LDs from childhood.
