The Fast & Furious franchise is already 20 years old: the first movie was released in 2001. F9, the sequel to the action film (also known as F9: The Fast Saga or Fast & Furious 9), is already a favorite with fans this summer.

The beginning of the film takes the audience to 1989: Jack Toretto dies during a race in front of his sons – young Dominic and Jacob. Soon Dominic realizes that his younger brother was the cause of his father’s death and drives him out of the house. Years later, Dominic leads a secluded life with his wife Letty and his young son, when suddenly his friends appear on the doorstep: the heroes face new challenges, races, chases, and fights, in which the brothers will face off in an open confrontation and reunite again.

In one of the scenes, the main character is plunged underwater. He loses consciousness and experiences a phase state. The Collider website even writes about lucid dreams and the surrealism of the entire narrative. However, according to the factual plot, Dominic has a near-death experience (NDE) that includes visions of various moments from his life. At first, he sees his brother and himself as children, with their father. Then he sees his son, in the present. Finally, he sees his father shortly before his death. The hero re-experiences both touching moments of family closeness, and the most painful episode of his life – the loss of his father. We can say that the creators of the film reproduce one of the classic NDE patterns – the person’s whole life (or at least key moments) flashing before their eyes.

The film was released in theaters in the United States on June 25, 2021. According to Decider, it will be possible to watch the movie online from the middle or end of July, depending on how well F9 does in theaters.
