Lucid dreaming (LD) has gained such popularity that it can now be considered a market encompassing a wide range of products and services that help enthusiasts engage in this practice. The most commonly mentioned items include masks, courses, training videos, and books. However, these items represent just a small part of the market. A comprehensive overview of the market was conducted by a group of researchers led by Denis Banchenko.

Scientists have repeatedly noted the impact of pharmaceuticals on the ability to achieve lucidity in dreams. Among the most popular are galantamine, rivastigmine, memantine, and donepezil. Herbal remedies are also used, such as Pouchong tea (well-known in traditional Tibetan medicine), mugwort, and Galangal tea (which originates from Southeast Asia). Green tea, Mexican dream herb (Calea zacatechichi), Salvia divinorum (also known as “diviner’s sage”), and valerian may also have a positive effect, at least on overall sleep. It has also been hypothesized that cocoa influences the induction of lucid dreams.

Aromatherapists claim that certain essential oils can also help achieve more vivid and memorable dreams. For example, lavender reduces stress and anxiety, thereby promoting deeper and calmer sleep. Peppermint also has a relaxing effect and improves sleep. Some people assert that using essential oils in the evening helps them remember their dreams.

Another approach is to consume foods that stimulate lucidity in dreams. The main goal is to provide the body with vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium, choline, and tryptophan. These nutrients enhance brain activity and regulate sleep and mood. So, what should one eat more frequently to experience lucid dreams? Egg yolks, bananas, milk, yogurt, oatmeal, and nuts (such as walnuts or almonds) are among the foods that aid LD.

However, the LD market also comprises many entertainment options, ranging from fictional literature to films and games.

How immersed are you in the LD market? Have you tried any of the mentioned products or services?
