Diablo is a popular series of computer games, the first of which was released back in 1996. But did you know that it can help you experience lucid dreaming? That’s exactly what the team behind Diablo IV promises with their latest innovation: an eight-hour audio called Nightmare Fuel. They claim that listening to this music while sleeping can lead to lucidity.

The audio was developed in collaboration with Leslie Ellis, a psychotherapist specializing in dreams, nightmares, and trauma. According to the creators’ presentation, sleeping with this recording will help individuals become aware during dreams and take control of the dream narrative. However, the idea has not been tested extensively; Ellis refers to it as an experiment—an attempt to create a dream based on a pre-planned scenario, in this case, centered around their experience playing Diablo.

The music itself is quite dark. It begins by setting the intention that you can create your own dream, just as you control the game world. Then, the person falls asleep to the specially designed soundtrack, which, according to the claims, facilitates lucidity in their dream.

The audio is available on YouTube.
