Jeremy Renner—two-time Oscar nominee and Marvel star known worldwide as Hawkeye—went through a true ordeal in 2023, as reported by Philstar. The actor was crushed by a 14-ton machine and suffered multiple fractures and frostbite. He recently shared the story of his near-death experience in his memoir, My Next Breath.
He “disappeared” for somewhere between two and 10 minutes before waking up in the hospital. “I could see my lifetime,” Renner wrote in the book. “I could see everything all at once. In death, there was no time, no time at all, yet it was also all time and forever.” A person in such a space is like DNA, an atom, or a spirit.
The actor admits he didn’t want to return from that peaceful, bodiless state—and was furious when he was brought back to life. He describes the otherworldly realm as a magical calm where you see nothing but the images of your imagination. According to Jeremy, being free from the body is an incredible relief.
Have you ever experienced an out-of-body state? If so, how did it feel?
