We spend a third of our lives asleep, and some people can experience a full life only in their dreams. This prompted Ukrainian educators Voznyuk and Dubasenyuk to propose using lucid dreaming to help children with special needs experience things that they cannot experience in their waking lives.

Health problems can be broadly categorized into mental/psychological and physical conditions. Many children in the first group don’t understand they are different from other children. With caring parents and doctors, they can even overcome their illnesses. For example, some individuals with Down syndrome become educators, and autistic individuals can become scientists. However, children with physical disabilities often feel inadequate and suffer from their condition.

Fortunately, lucid dreaming is a boundless space where even a completely paralyzed person can walk and run. Here, children with physical disabilities can feel healthy and happy. Furthermore, rehabilitation procedures can be performed within a lucid dream, helping these children heal their physical bodies.

Have you done something in a lucid dream that is inaccessible to you in reality?
