Near-death experiences may be the key to solving global challenges, including the ecological crisis. This unexpected perspective is proposed by Danish researcher Tobias Anker Stripp, who analyzed thousands of testimonies from people who survived clinical death, drawn from the online archive of the Near-Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF). He believes that out-of-body journeys, vivid imagery, and unusual sensations can inspire people to form a new relationship with the world around them.
Many scientists try to explain these “adventures” solely as the result of brain activity, but Stripp expresses doubt. He points to cases in which people have described events that occurred far from their physical bodies during out-of-body episodes—and these reports were later confirmed. This suggests that consciousness may exist independently of the body, opening new horizons for understanding human nature.
The author also views this extraordinary experience as an opportunity to rethink our worldview, reflect on the future, and consider the salvation of the soul. Accounts from those who have undergone clinical death speak of unconditional love available to everyone, regardless of religion or belief. Moreover, the visions received in such states may inspire a more responsible attitude toward the environment, as they reveal the profound connection between humans and nature.
Do you know anyone who has experienced a near-death state? How much did it change them?
