The astral plane plays an essential role in the plot of the well-known film Doctor Strange, which is about a successful neurosurgeon whose career is destroyed after a terrible accident. Desperate to find healing through traditional methods, he travels to the mysterious Kamar-Taj, where he meets the Ancient One and learns the secrets of magic. Of note, the Ancient One pushes Strange’s astral body out during their first encounter. As he travels through the astral planes, he encounters powerful forces and begins to understand that reality is far more complex than it seems.

In the film, the astral plane is presented as a separate dimension superimposed on our physical world but invisible to ordinary people. The characters can separate from their physical bodies and travel in astral form, allowing them to see and interact with spiritual entities. The most spectacular scenes depict astral battles, during which Strange and his opponents demonstrate impressive abilities, such as changing the landscape, bending space and time, and using various spells.

To enter the astral plane, the characters use meditation, visualization, and work with energy. The Ancient One teaches Strange techniques of lucidity and control over his mind. Clearly, the film presents a mystical view of out-of-body experience and astral projection. And, given that special effects are central to the film’s appeal, the plot is filled with artifacts and magical spells.

Have you seen the film? What do you think about the connection with real phase states?
