Many stories of alien abductions are related to sexual activities or quasi-sexual actions. Approximately every second “abducted” individual claims to have been lying naked on a table. Why are aliens not interested in our digestion, immune system, or vision? Canadian researcher Jim Davies is confident it’s because these things are not as interesting to us as sex.

The author emphasizes that people do not necessarily invent UFO stories and provides several of the most reasonable explanations for them. One possible reason is sleep paralysis, during which many people experience hallucinations; everything seems very real, and we tend to believe in the supernatural when faced with the unknown.

Another potential reason is repressed memories. If a person has buried certain memories in the far corners of their mind, stress (which can be caused by sleep paralysis) can bring them out and add so-called false memories to them. Different cultures have legends about the demon of sleep paralysis. Sometimes it is called a ghost, a demon, or an incubus. It is not surprising that, during hallucinations, people interpret them (and unconsciously direct them) in a “right” way, confirming familiar childhood stories.

What do you think real aliens would be interested in when visiting our planet?

A preprint of the article was published in March 2024 on PsyArXiv.
