Sleep paralysis has long attracted the creators of horror films because in real life it scares us no less than on the screen. In this state, which occurs when we wake up but cannot move, many people see bizarre hallucinations, feel fits of suffocation, and even sense someone else’s presence.

One of the most famous films on this topic was Slumber, a hit from 2017. More recently, the list of films about sleep paralysis has been expanded with a new horror movie called Come True. The film will be released in the United States on March 12 and later worldwide.

The author and director of the film, the Canadian Anthony Scott Burns, previously directed a mini-series about the forbidden DarkNet. According to the author, sleep paralysis attracted his attention in his youth, when he himself became a victim of the phenomenon.

The film tells the story of a homeless teenager, Sarah, who struggles with recurring nightmares and becomes a participant in scientific research on sleep disorders. According to the director, “science obviously declares this a mass hallucination, but you have to wonder… Why do people see the same thing?”
