The metal band Reaping Asmodeia from Minneapolis (USA) was founded in 2013 by former members of With Dead Hands Rising, and released their debut album a year later. In July 2021, according to Prosthetic Records, the musicians presented a new single – “False Awakening” – to their fans. As the title of the song implies, it addresses one of the phase states, which also include lucid dreams, out-of-body and near-death experiences, etc.

According to the band members, “a false awakening is an out of body experience that happens when you wake up from a dream only to realize that you’re still sleeping, superseding with a new perception and path in consciousness that takes shape when you are able to step outside of yourself.”

The hero of the video that accompanies the single is a man who has lost his family. Watching old videos, he falls asleep after which he finds himself on the street, goes up to the house and, going into the bedroom, sees his own body lying on the bed. The scenario then repeats: the street and the house flash again, and everything ends in a meeting with abstract shadows.

According to the musicians, “False Awakening” is an ideal entry point into the new album (Darkened Infinity) form which the single is taken.
