The human race creates countless imaginary worlds through stories, songs, drawings, films, etc. Tihoni Brčić, a researcher at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), calls all this virtual reality, adding that, together with the dream reality and our physical world, they form the three realities of human experience.

It should be noted that the author belongs to the field of art, so his view belongs more firmly in the field of creativity and esotericism than science. He talks not so much about dreams as about altered states of consciousness in general, citing meditation, the use of psychoactive substances, and various energetic practices as examples.

At the same time, the researcher also considers dreams, especially lucid ones (LDs), a primary source of inspiration. Composer Ludwig van Beethoven, writer Mary Shelley, and painter Salvador Dali were known to take a nap to stimulate creativity (the latter even claimed to be able to induce dreams), and inventor Thomas Edison said that he was “flooded” by creative images after a nap.

To develop the ability to LD, the author recommends the following techniques:

– Remember the dream after waking up, do something for ten minutes, then go back to sleep, remembering the dream
– Use autosuggestion during the day, constantly repeating that the dream will be lucid
– Performs reality checks
– Induce night awakenings (to do so, the author advises drinking a lot of water before going to bed), during which you should write down what you just dreamed
– Cultivate a true desire to experience LD

In conclusion, the researcher adds that the consciously experienced dream world combines the qualities of the physical and virtual worlds.
