Would you like to influence the real world while in a lucid dream? While dreaming, would you like to compose a piece of music or hold a conversation with Einstein? What about sending a message to a friend via phone, or even controlling a computer and receiving feedback from it?

The concept of two-way interaction with a computer was first tested by researchers from REMspace, Michael Raduga and Andrey Shashkov. Sensors were attached to lucid dreaming practitioners, and diodes were installed in front of their eyes. While awake, they learned to operate a virtual car. If they moved their legs, a Tesla Cybertruck on the screen would move forward, and it would turn in response to hand movements. Obstacles were indicated by a light shining through the eyelids. Participants then had to replicate this process in lucid dreams.

Five people took part in the study. They spent one to four nights in the laboratory, experiencing eighteen confirmed lucid dreams in total. In twelve of these dreams, the lucid dreamers controlled the virtual Cybertruck and avoided obstacles.

The experiment demonstrated not only that people can influence computer programs from dreams but also that they can respond to feedback while dreaming. As the authors note, the development of these technologies will soon open up new horizons for all of humanity. Researchers promise to release the first device allowing internet connectivity from lucid dreams as early as 2024.
